Hillary states new position on Illegal driver licenses |
|
|
In a move designed to prove she can change her mind, Hillary Clinton yesterday came down against issuing driver's licenses to illegal immigrants -- or did she?
This story initially became news when Senator Clinton dodged a question in a debate. When Tim Russert asked Hillary to clarify her answer, she gave another non-answer.
Mr. Russert was later criticized and Wolf Blitzer, the moderator for the upcoming debate, was warned not to 'pull a Russert' by the Clinton camp.
Clinton summarized her new position by saying, "As president, I will not support driver's licenses for undocumented people and will press for comprehensive immigration reform that deals with all of the issues around illegal immigration including border security and fixing our broken system."
Unfortunately, my command of Clinton-speak is not up to the task of interpreting her statement. The clearest part appears to rule out driver's licenses for 'undocumented people'. Does that mean that if we first document illegal immigrants that she may then support issuing them licenses? |
