Hillary plays victim, accuses rivals of mudslinging |
|
|
In an effort to continue to portray herself as the victim, Senator Clinton accused her leading Democratic rivals of mudslinging "right out of the Republican playbook". She also managed to appeal to her gender -- while maintaining plausible deniability on the issue -- with the following, "People are not attacking me because I'm a woman, they're attacking me because I'm ahead."
She also said, "I'm not playing the gender card here in Las Vegas, I'm trying to play the winning card."
And this, "It is clear, I think, from women's experiences that from time to time there may be some impediments, And it has been my goal over the course of my lifetime to be part of this great movement of progress that includes all of us, but has particularly been significant to me as a woman."
John Edwards, referring to Hillary, said, "She says she will bring change to Washington while she continues to defend a system that does not work, that is broken, that is rigged, that is corrupt."
Senator Clinton responded with, "I've just been personally attacked again. I don't mind taking hits on my record on issues, but when somebody starts throwing mud at least we can hope it's accurate and not right out of the Republican playbook." |
