Mom McCain joins fray, hits Mormons |
|
|
Roberta McCain, 95, referring to the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics bribery scandal, said, "Mormons of Salt Lake City had caused that scandal", and pointed out that Mitt Romney was also a Mormon.
John McCain interjected, "The views of my mothers are not necessarily the views of mine."
Mr. McCain later attempted to defuse the issue by saying, "What she meant was the Olympics were screwed up by the people in Salt Lake when Romney came in and fixed the problems there. But I know my 95-year-old mother is certainly in favor of Mormons."
With that implausable re-spin on her statements, perhaps the Senator really meant that his mother was now throwing her support to the only Mormon in the race.
Who could blame her if she did? |

Hillary comments on planted question from student |
|
|
At a campaign stop in Newton, Iowa on Tuesday, Hillary Clinton fielded a question from a member of the audience, Muriel Gallo-Chasanoff:
"As a young person, I'm worried about the long-term effects of global warming. How does your plan combat climate change?"
The Senator began her response with this:
"Well, you should be worried. You know, I find as I travel around Iowa that it's usually young people that ask me about global warming."
According to Gallo-Chasanoff, "they wanted a question from a college student."
Clinton campaign staff admitted to the plant but denied that the candidate was aware of the planted question. Whether Hillary was involved in the plant or not, it is hardly surprising that "it's usually young people" who ask her about global warming.
John Edwards' campaign referred to this strategy as the "politics of planting". |

Hillary, Giuliani tops in AP poll |
|
|
For those still undecided in the major party presidential primaries, you may be too late to help decide the winners.
In an important poll we believe foreshadows the results of the party nominations, former First Lady Hillary Clinton and former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani were the clear winners.
In the AP telephone poll 1,013 adults were contacted from Oct. 16th through Oct. 18th, and asked about their judgement of scariest Halloween mask.
While Hillary won on the Democrat side in a landslide, Rudy also won handily among the Republicans.
Congratulations to the winners and best of luck in the general election! |

Bill: I Screwed up HillaryCare |
|
|
Responding to criticism of his wife's health care initiative, former President and future First Laddy Bill Clinton took Hillary's share of the blame for the failure.
“She has taken the rap for some of the problems we had with health care the last time that were far more my fault than hers.” said Mr. Clinton. He went on to elaborately describe none of the embarrassing details of his role in the torpedoing of HillaryCare.
While we don't know why Bill allowed Hillary to suffer the smoldering criticism for over a decade before stepping up and admitting blame, we say, "better late than never".
As for Barack Obama's complaint that she can't campaign on the experience of drafting the proposal without also taking the blame for its failure, we can't help but wonder if he would be so judgmental if Hillary were a man.
Shame on you, Barack Obama!
